Now this article isn’t going to go all Hot Topic and state “Normal is only a button on a washing machine.” This article is about the rare occurrence that is Fandom and the world it has created for younger generations. The first question that needs to be asked is, what is a fandom? According to google the literal definition is: Fandom- The state or condition of being a fan of someone or something. According to urban dictionary the definition is: Fandom- The community that surrounds a TV show/movie/book etc. Fan fiction writers, artists, poets, and cosplayers are all members of that fandom.  But according to a fangirl the definition is: Fandom- Something you should never go into. I am inclined to believe the last definition the most because one trip through Tumblr is enough to make any person lose their sanity. It’s a dark road that many girls (and guys) of our generation have gone down and we have never seen them again. Expect for when they need to get their new password… because we changed it… for health reasons. This all began in 1903 in the Cincinnati Enquirer. The beginning of the 20th century and the slow decline of watching a TV show in piece.  However, surprisingly, the first coined fandom was in 1928. It was “base ball fandom.” Editor Angela Clark stated, “And men say that woman are emotional.” That’s kind of the problem. At the first mention of fandom, people think of some crazy gaggle of girls. However, boys fan just as hard as girls. Sure, it’s most of the time about guys were wearing skin tight pants, tackling each other, often slapping each other’s butts, but totally not gay like being in love with a fictional character.  I hate to crush all of the guys hearts out there, but fantasy foot ball is about the equivalent of fan fiction. They both are extremely fake, never going to happen, and no one about it besides the person involved.
