A group of San Antonio Police officers is facing disciplinary action after violating city policy when they appeared in a video backing GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump. The video made the rounds Tuesday after Trump made an appearance in the Alamo City raising money for his campaign.
In the video, police officers are shown wearing red caps with the words “Make America Great Again.” Mayor Ivy Taylor expressed her disappointment on social media Tuesday saying she was “deeply disappointed by some of our SAPD officers’ lack of judgment.” The mayor went on to add, “While on duty, police must be above politics with an obligation to serve everyone equally.”
The police officers involved were part of a motorcade escorting Trump from the airport. According to city policy, officers are prohibited from participating in any politically motivated activity while in uniform
