By Natalie Fazio SAN ANTONIO—The OLLU Saints men’s basketball team finished their seventh week of conference play holding the first place spot in the Red River Athletic Conference with a 10-1 record. The Saints pulled out two wins against the University of St, Thomas – Houston and Texas College at home. Going up against St. Thomas first the men held strong against the 4-7 Celts with a 77-75 game Friday night. The game was a point for point up until the last second when Courtney fouled out with twenty-three seconds to go which gave the saints the 77-75 lead they needed. With the defense holding strong at the end the men were able to guard a three-pointer shot by the Celts and take the win that night. “it was a great night, a strong game played by both teams and just an all around fun game to be involved in,” said Junior Courtney Julien. The next night the Saints took on Texas College a 2-9 record school and had a dominating night. The final school was 87-60 at the end of the night with shots made by Senior Yephnick Adelphonse and Senior Brendell Collins. Adelphonse came out strong the entire game racked up 13 points with 3-of-4 3 pointers made for the night. The Saints go into a two-week away game stretch until returning home February 14 to match up against Huston-Tillotson University and non-conference Paul Quinn College on senior night.
