SAN ANTONIO—The Saints Greek Council is ready to stroll their way into the new semester by showing what they stand for at “The Greek Showcase.”

The showcase will be held on January 31, 2018 at 7 p.m. in the chapel auditorium.

“The showcase allows Our Lady of the Lake University Greek organizations and visiting organizations a chance to inform and present a showcase about what their respective organization believes and stands for.” SGC advisor Scarlett Alonzo said.

During their showcase organizations show off their mission, Greek culture, and their stepping and strolling.

“This allows OLLU students to recognize the pride each organization has and the hard work that is done to achieve Greek letters.” Alonzo said.

The Greek Showcase also gives OLLU students a look at organizations in order to increase membership. Every fraternity and sorority has a different process in order to join their organization. A fraternity or sorority is a group of men or women coming together for a common purpose, interest, or goal. It is a brotherhood or sisterhood promoting education, awareness and the furtherance of their surrounding communities.

OLLU Greek Life consists of six organizations, four sororities and two fraternities. The four sororities on our campus are Epsilon Sigma Alpha International, Delta Xi Nu Multicultural Sorority Inc., Kappa Delta Chi Sorority Inc., and Theta Nu Xi Multicultural Sorority Inc. Our two fraternities are Sigma Theta Epsilon National Christian Fraternity and Omega Delta Phi Fraternity Inc.

It is overwhelming for students wanting to go Greek because they do not know if it is right for them.

“Knowing if Greek Life is for you is not always clear. My best piece of advice is to look at everything Greek Life offers and how it aligns with your values and beliefs,” Alonzo said.

Students who have a GPA of a 2.3 and are not first semester freshman meet the general requirements. Each Greek organization has their own specific GPA requirements the student must meet.

Students who are interested in joining a Greek organization are strongly encouraged to go to “The Greek Showcase.”

“I have found a brotherhood for a lifetime and it is easily one of the best decisions I have ever made.” Omega Delta Phi President Aaron Moncevais said.
