By Natalie Fazio SAN ANTONIO—The Our Lady of the Lake softball team played their first home game of the season on Saturday in a double header against Coastal Bend College. A large crowd came out during lunchtime to give the ladies support for their first games of the season. Freshman Ciera Martinez and Sierra Valadez started the game. The Saints began the first inning with an advance to third on the fourth batter and got out with a fly ball out to right field. In the bottom of the forth down 7-8 senior Kimberly Chavez went up to bat and was able to bring the Saints back in the game with a scoring run. With her last season beginning the feelings were high for Chavez. “It is crazy to see that I am actually about to be finished with this journey, but I am excited for everything to come.” Chavez said. The Coastal Bend Cougars came back defeating the Saints 8-7. The Saints continue their season with a tournament in Fort Worth, Texas participating in the NAIA College Cowtown Classic on February 9 through 10.  The Saints will face Oklahoma Wesleyan University and Columbia College to start the tournament. Other opponents include Ottawa University and Bethany College. To stay up to date with the Saints softball team and other sports follow OLLU Athletics on Twitter.
