SAN ANTONIO—Like most college students, we get restless and feel that it’s only right to explore the sights and sounds of San Antonio, and you’d be right to do so! However, like any venture, it will ultimately cost money, whether it be in the form of transportation or entrance. So, what are some of the best ways to make the most of a cost-effective night?
If you’re feeling in the mood to kick off some stress with dancing, then Cowboys Dance hall is a popular option among students. In addition, it has an economic rate going for $10 cover charges on Wednesday to those under 21, and for those 21 and over, it’s a simple five dollar charge. Not bad for a night out to mingle and dance the night away.
“It’s a great experience to just let the stress melt away!” Jesus Ybara said.
Assuming dancing isn’t your area of expertise, then perhaps you can try Tuesday nights at the AMF Ponderosa Lanes Bowling Alley as they have $2.22 specials on games and shoes, meaning yes, $5 can get you a solid half hour of fun with friends or should you choose to go solo, a great time to yourself. Needless to say, that’s a budget most students can get behind.
However, if you’re looking for something a bit quieter, then perhaps a Tuesday night at Blue Star is what you need. On Tuesday nights there is live jazz music that is completely free of charge! It’s a simple matter of walking in, ordering a meal or water, (or any other beverage to those 21 and older) and relaxing to selections from some of Jazz’s greatest talents.
If you’re still feeling a bit lively, then a walk on the River Walk might be just what you need, seeing the lovely view of the city from there is truly something special.
