OLLU’s volleyball team bonds strongly and is optimistic for the season
SAN ANTONIO- The Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) 2022 National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) volleyball season has begun. After competing in the San Antonio Shindig Tournament, the Saints volleyball team brought various valuable players to this year’s roster. The Saints finished the tournament 2-2 overall, dropping games to Southwestern Assemblies of God University and Westcliff, ultimately winning against Friends 3-1 and Loyola 3-1. With the newcomers joining, returning players expect an exciting season. They do their part to welcome them to the team. “Dailyn and Becca [vollyball players], they took me in under their wing, way before preseason in open gym,” freshman ,Mia Francis said. “We hung out a couple of times; it was an instant click.” Conference preseasons are a wonderful way for the Saints to become more confident together as a team. “Not only is the work being put on the court, but our coach instills a standard for us to follow on quotes to live by as a team,” sophomore, Dailyn Mann said. The team has built a strong bond and begins with everyone being friends. “I think the tightness of this group is what is making us what we are,” freshman, Karla Candia said.
