SAN ANTONIO – Interested in knowing more about your culture and the culture of the people around you? Students at Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) can join the Mexican American Student Association also known as MASA.
MASA is a diverse association here at OLLU that welcomes not only Mexican-American backgrounds but international students along with Chicanx and Latinx students.
“Our goals right now are to be safe. Have a safe space, have a fun space, have a space where you can talk about how you grew up anywhere around the world, how you identify as your identity if you’re not sure,” said President of MASA Victoria Herrera.
MASA encourages those who are undocumented to join the association to have a safe place. Additionally, MASA wants to advocate for all Hispanic, Chicanx, Latinx, and International cultures.
“Our club’s mission is to help you find that identity,” said Herrera. “Our club’s mission is also to help students feel included anywhere, anywhere around the world.”
For more information on MASA, visit the Center for Mexican American Studies and Research located on the second floor in Moye Hall.
