As the semester reaches its end, students and staff at all three Our Lady of the Lake University campuses have been occupied with a multitude of events.
On April 13, Dean Rosenthal spoke with students at the La Feria campus regarding business, creativity and leadership.
On April 11, a meet and greet for OLLU Rio Grande Valley alumni, current students and guests interested in the graduate leadership programs was held at Stefano’s Brooklyn Pizza in Harlingen from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
On April 9, OLLU RGV Assistant Professor David A. Estringel shared experience and the journey into becoming a professional writer at the Upstairs Meeting Room from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. as part of the National Library Week celebration.
OLLU RGV students attended a Student Technology Leadership Conference at McAllen Convention Center on April 5.
On March 30, the Houston campus Student Services hosted a MAP – My Academic Plan workshop during lunch. The purpose of the workshop “was to introduce new and readmitted students to the MAP portal and demonstrate how to effectively navigate the system. The event also served as an opportunity to create a plan for summer and fall course loads,” Undergraduate Admissions Counselor Rachelle Compton, MSW, said.
On March 29, OLLU Houston co-sponsored the 2019 economic outlook forum at Southwestern Energy hosted by the Houston Northwest Chamber of Commerce. The main focus of the events included Northwest Houston’s growing markets, industry insights, future focus and making connections across industries. The Houston admission counselors were among a few higher education vendors in attendance.
On March 23, Representatives from Ace Tutoring, Career Development, SGA and the Student Leadership and Development office traveled from San Antonio to engage with the Houston campus and provide them with the information regarding resources available to them. “Students participated in an interactive ‘Wings Up!’ tutorial, Compton added.
