By Bianca Garcia SAN ANTONIO—The staff at Our Lady of the Lake University came together in an effort to recognize student workers during National Student Employment Week (NSEW). According to the National Student Employee Association (NSEA), National Student Employment Week is April 9 through April 15 and supports and advocates the advancement of student employment professionals through training, professional development, and research opportunities for the purpose of skill building and career development of student employees. OLLU celebrated NSEW by providing it’s student body with treats that ranged from sausage wraps to mangonadas, celebrating the student employees for a job well done. Melissa Franco, a student worker in the Academic Affairs office says that working at OLLU is fun and works around her class schedule. “Besides the free food after the meetings, working at OLLU is fun and it’s all in one spot—our classes and work,” Franco said. “There is no need to drive everywhere.” According to Mayra Martinez, Assistant Director-FA/Student Employment, NSEW is to recognize current student workers with the hopes to recruit future student workers. Students interested in employment can contact the student employment office at seo@ollusa.edu or visit their offices located in the basement of the Walter Center.
