Andres Munoz

Presenter: Andres Munoz, Vice President of Marketing & Communications for Visit San Antonio

Bio: Andrés Muñoz is the Vice President, Marketing & Communications for Visit San Antonio, the sales and marketing organization promoting San Antonio as a premier tourism and meeting destination.

Muñoz started with the organization in February 2012. He brings more than 20 years of diverse experience in the marketing and communications field, most recently serving for three years as the SACVB Group Account Director at Bromley Communications.

His award-winning experience includes marketing efforts for McDonald’s, Colgate, Visa and Sony. Global creative agency DDB brought him from Colombia to the U.S. to lead the McDonald’s USA Hispanic account.

A native of Colombia, Muñoz is married and has two children.

Hospitality is a leading industry in San Antonio, which attracts 34 million visitors a year. 1 in every 8 residents is employed in the industry, which has an overall annual economic impact of $13.4 billion.

Tanya Sammis

Session: Monday, April 26, at 11 a.m. – It’s About the Relationships

Session Description: It’s About The Relationships: Whether digital campaigns, community outreach, publicity, or some other channel of communications, PR is and always will be about relationships. Tanya will discuss integrating relationships into every aspect of PR, whether you’re just getting started, striving to be a better team member, or interested in starting a business. 

Presenter: Tanya Sammis, Co-Owner of Sammis | Ochoa Public Relations Firm

Bio: Tanya is the co-owner of Sammis|Ochoa. Her love for the purpose she serves in the company each day extends from the ability she has to show the good and the opportunity that exists in this world. Whether it’s through educating audiences and communities about events that can leave them with an experience to last a lifetime or increasing the excitement surrounding an industry that is at the backbone of growth for a city, she loves being a part of a team that can storytell to make a positive impact, energize a community, and make people feel valued.

She has worked in public relations since she began her career in 2007, working in professional sports and with another agency before God paved the way for her to settle into a seat as an entrepreneur

Tanya sits on the Engagement & Sustainability Committee for San Antonio Sports, as well as the Raul Jimenez Thanksgiving Dinner Committee

She loves the Lord, her family, her person, and the inconspicuous blessings that exist all around us every day. She also co-owns CrossFit Virilis with Jobie Zapico. One of her other great interests and impact opportunities is nutrition and fitness. When she’s not in the office, you can usually find her spending time with her person and her pup, watching all kinds of sports, working out or coaching at the gym, hanging out with her family, hiking on occasion, and enjoying good movies. She graduated from The University of Texas in Austin with her Bachelor of Arts in Public Relations in 2004, followed by her Master of Science in Sport Management in 2007.

Laura Puig

Session: Monday, April 26, at 12: 30 p.m. – Life in Entertainment PR

Presenter: Laura Puig, Account Director Television & Entertainment for Scenario PR

Bio:
Laura is an experienced publicist with a demonstrated history of clients in the entertainment, fashion, beauty and lifestyle industries. In her current role, she is responsible for leading and managing strategic publicity campaigns for her clients such as Fremantle’s America’s Got Talent, FOX’s The Masked Singer and ABC’s The Conners.

She works hand-in-hand with clients to launch and promote new and existing series, facilitating all aspects of media. Past and current clients include FOX’s The Masked Dancer, ABC’s Big Sky, Supermarket Sweep, FX’s Dave, YouTube and Ridley Scott’s “Life In A Day 2020,” TBS’ Miracle Workers, The Last O.G. and TNT’s Chasing the Cure.

She has run various large-scale red-carpets such as Samantha Bee’s Not the White House Correspondents’ Dinner and premieres and “For Your Consideration” events for series including Showtime’s Desus & Mero, City on a Hill, Wu-Tang Clan: Of Mics and Men and Billions. In her previous role, Laura worked directly as a publicist with the Television Academy to help prepare the red carpet for their largest event: the 69th Primetime Emmy Awards® as well as the Creative Arts Emmy Awards®, LA Area Emmy Awards® and the Television Hall of Fame.

She also managed all of the red carpets preceding the Emmy Awards including more than 10 nominee receptions. 

Prior to focusing on entertainment, Laura worked at Droese PR on various clients in the fashion, beauty and lifestyle space. Some of her clients included rewardStyle, Leatherology, MAC x Bumble & bumble, Southern Tide and Peacock Alley. While working with these clients, Laura worked closely with the national press garnering various print features in top-tier outlets, facilitated events including brand/influencer partnerships, product launches, grand openings, trunk shows, media previews and photo shoots. She also helped launch two successful book tours for “Parties Around a Punch Bowl” by Kimberly Whitman and “LIKEtoKNOW.it: Stories from the Influencer Next Door” by LIKEtoKNOW.it. The launches included events during New York Fashion Week and a partnership with Spotify.
